I always thought the plastic bags of mulch were a commercialised product that was a far-cry from good old round bales of mulch. I stand corrected though. It is easy to transport, the uniform and small piece size makes it perfect for tender seedlings, its certified organic and one bag will easily cover 7 sqm at a 50mm spreading depth.
Sugar Cane Mulch is prepared from the leaves of sugar cane plants that are chopped to size. This product has very good mulch characteristics with an excellent ability to insulate the soil surface, conserve water and protect the soil and plant roots from temperature extremes. The recycling of sugar cane leaves as a mulch provides significant environmental benefits. Certified Organic by NASSA.
Chopped Sugar Cane
How to Use
Remove weed growth from the area to be mulched. If the soil is compacted aerate it gently with a garden fork before adding the mulch. Water heavily. Spread the mulch over the soil surface to a depth of at least 50mm. Keep the mulch from directly contacting plant stems.
Due to bulkiness of this product it is only available for pick up in store.
