Fruit Fly control that meets National Organic Standard.
$24.95 inc GST

Cera Trap is a food based protein liquid solution that attracts and traps en masse both the Queensland and Mediterranean male and female fruit fly. Containing no insecticides, this trap is a chemical free alternative to fruit fly control. The beauty of the Cera Trap is that it is a set and forget trap that is non-toxic and long lasting. The liquid protein is NOT attractive to beneficial insects so Cera Trap is biologically and ecologically responsible. In Australia it can be used in WA, VIC, QLD and NSW. It is also used in Spain, Mexico and Israel.

Cera Trap does not require you to decide which type of fly or which sex you are catching, nor will need to spray every 7 days. Cera Trap is an effective alternative to spraying toxic chemicals over your future food and you have to feel good about that!  Just open the jar, attach the lid and hang adjacent to your susceptible crop.

HINTS FOR USE:

The best time to use the traps is at least 45 days prior to fruit ripening; when fruit reaches approximately 1/3 of its final size; when fruit is small and still developing.

The traps will be most effective if hung on the northern side of the plant; within the foliage or crop; 1.5 metres above the ground.

Cera Traps work by using lots of traps in a consolidated area in the crop itself. A trap density of 80-120 traps /ha is recommended.

In a backyard situation, where trees are around 5 metres or more apart, 1 trap per tree is highly recommended . If you have lower growing crops such as tomatoes, place traps within or as close by as possible, at 1 trap per 10 metres lineal. If you have a net, place the traps under the net. In order for you to harvest luscious, maggot free fruit you must not skimp on the traps. One trap, regardless of the size of the garden or number of plants is very unlikely to give successful control.

Life of traps: Unopened traps can be stored in a cool place for a long time. The ingredients are activated only when the trap is opened and exposed to oxygen. Traps can be moved to other ripening crops after harvesting and are viable while there is still liquid in the trap (average 3 - 4 months). The waxy-looking solids in the trap are normal and do not stop it working.
