AgChar, Biochar, Charcoal, whatever you want to call it, is a signifigant natural carbon storehouse. This ancient product has been made by nature for millions of years and by man since the time of the Incas. The formation of Biochar is a natural way of regulating global carbon cycles. The natural biomass burning cycle shapes our terrestrial environment and has a significant influence on the carbon balance globally.
As Biochar is a signifigant natural carbon storehouse it has the potential to directly improve soil carbon levels, improving soil structure, sweetening acidic soils and reducing fertiliser inputs. Ag Char acts as a microbial housing for decades while "soaking up" and neutralising problem chemicals in decontamination situations.
Kandanga Ag Products' AgChar sold by Bos Rural is produced from Gidgee (one of the world's hardest timbers) with the valuable Wood Vinegar incorporated into the product (often sold seperately).
To use as a soil conditioner you will need to ACTIVATE YOUR BIOCHAR with microbes. Grow and Rural Boss are excellent inoculents as are your own compost teas.
Agchar, is a crushed courser grade of Biochar and is used as a soil conditioer. Some of the key benefits of using Biochar as a fertiliser include signifigantly reducing run-off by increasing moisture retention, improving the efficiency of nitrogen use by plants resulting in increased yields and providing microbial housing in the soil. Broad scale, use activated AgChar at 1t/Ha (or 1kg/m2) incorporating into soil where possible. Application efficiency can be achieved in row crops by concentrating in the root zone.
AgChar is made from sustainablly sourced hard Australian timber and is suitable for garden, crops, pasture and orchard use.
